Chanda Mwenya: Ghettolife (A selection)
Cultural diversity begins within our local communities. In our Zambian situation, tribal and traditional practices
add beauty to our cultural landscape.
In cities, social and economical factors have contributed to an urban assortment,
giving birth among to other things shanty settlements-Ghettos and street language-Chikaponya
The GHETTO is usually a haven for people from different tribal and cultural backgrounds who migrate to the city
for greener pasture, though most of them end up on dry ports.
The Ghetto habours people full of energy,
brilliant ideals and innovations, this is evedently exhibited through the main streets of the city; the venders,
the call boys-bakaponya
and there Zamcab counterparts.
The Ghetto has its own joys and happiness besides its hardships and sorrows.
The images of the GHETTOlife form some exclusive humanlandscapes that one can only see in Zambia
or at least through my eyes.
